Noshki, August 23, 2026: A Hindu trader, Rakesh Kumar, was shot dead by unidentified armed men at his shop in Noshki Bazaar in Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Friday, according to police and local reports.

Police said the attackers entered Kumar’s shop in the Qadirabad Stop area of Noshki Bazaar. When he allegedly resisted, the assailants opened fire and fled the scene. Kumar died at the spot.

After receiving information about the shooting, police reached the area and shifted the body to the district hospital, where the deceased was identified as Rakesh Kumar.

A case has been registered against unidentified attackers, while police are investigating the killing and efforts are underway to identify those responsible.

Gurpal Singh, a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly, condemned the killing and described it as a “cowardly act” by what he called anti-state and anti-Balochistan elements.

In a statement, Singh said the Hindu community had been an integral part of Balochistan for centuries and had repeatedly demonstrated its loyalty to Pakistan and the province.

He urged the Balochistan government and law-enforcement agencies to identify and arrest those responsible for Kumar’s killing, as well as anyone who facilitated or planned the attack.

The killing has renewed concerns over the security of members of the Hindu community in Balochistan.
