CBI Summons Lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai in Mahua Moitra Corruption Probe
Supreme Court lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai has been summoned by the CBI for questioning in connection with the corruption allegations against Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra, who was expelled from the Lok Sabha last month. The probe revolves around ‘cash for query’ charges, accusing Moitra of accepting bribes for raising critical questions about the government in Parliament.
Ethics Committee Findings Led to Lok Sabha Expulsion
Mahua Moitra faced expulsion from Lok Sabha based on findings from the Ethics Committee, which concluded that her actions were “highly objectionable, unethical, heinous, and criminal.” BJP’s Nishikant Dubey, who raised the ‘cash for query’ allegations, prompted the investigation.
Jai Anant Dehadrai’s Evidence Key in Allegations
Jai Anant Dehadrai, who previously provided evidence against Mahua Moitra to the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee, has been summoned for questioning by the CBI. The probe involves allegations that Moitra accepted cash and luxury gifts in exchange for raising critical queries in Parliament.
