NEET UG 2026 Exam Cancelled; CBI to Investigate the Matter | Fresh Dates to be Announced Later
SRINAGAR, MAY 12, 2026 [VoM News]: In order to maintain the integrity of the examination, the National Testing Agency has cancelled the NEET UG 2026 examination, which was held on May 3, as irregularities have surfaced and will now be subjected to investigation.
The National Testing Agency has released an official statement in which it stated that the decision was taken after the approval of the Government of India and inputs from law enforcement agencies. Now, the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) will take over the matter and initiate a detailed investigation into it.
Nearly 22.7 lakh candidates had appeared for NEET UG 2026 across the country, competing for medical seats.
The National Testing Agency stated that the cancellation would create difficulties for students and families, but it would be in the greater interest of students and public trust in the national testing system. This step has been taken to maintain the integrity of the examination.
The National Testing Agency has given relief to candidates by stating that they will not need to register again for the re-conducted examination. Existing registration details, candidate records, and selected examination centers will remain valid, whereas no additional fee will be charged, as the fee already paid by candidates will be adjusted. Fresh examination dates and the revised admit card schedule will be announced separately.
