Bilal Ahmed Dar, the young man acknowledged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his dedication to cleaning Wular Lake, has been invited as a guest to witness the Republic Day Parade on Kartavya Path on the 75th Republic Day, which falls on January 26, 2024.
In a letter from the Government of India, Bilal is recognized for his contribution and is extended a cordial invitation to be an honored guest. The letter assures arrangements for his stay, food, and transportation throughout the event.
Hailing from Laharwalpora village in Bandipora district of north Kashmir, Bilal gained national attention at the age of 18 for his remarkable efforts in cleaning Wular Lake.
His story of starting to earn at the age of 14 by collecting waste from the lake, supporting his family after his father’s demise, and later becoming the brand ambassador of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation resonated with many. His commitment to cleanliness and environmental awareness earned him praise during the “Mann Ki Baat” radio broadcast by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This invitation is a testament to Bilal’s impactful work and the recognition he has received on a national level for his dedication to environmental conservation.
