Andhra Pradesh CID Questions Nara Lokesh in Amaravati Inner Ring Road Scam Probe

The Andhra Pradesh Police CID intensified its investigation into the Amaravati Inner Ring Road scam by questioning Telugu Desam Party (TDP) general secretary Nara Lokesh for over six hours. The CID summoned Mr. Lokesh to its Economic Offences Wing-II office in Tadepalli, Guntur district, where he was grilled extensively.

    Interrogation and Notice Served

Emerging from the CID’s office, Nara Lokesh informed reporters that he had undergone an extended interrogation session, lasting approximately six and a half hours. He also revealed that the CID officials had handed him a notice under Section 41 A (CrPC), instructing him to appear before them again on October 11. Interestingly, Lokesh mentioned that during the interrogation, he was confronted with questions unrelated to the Inner Ring Road scandal.

    Examination of Roles and Allegations

Nara Lokesh’s role as an executive director in Heritage Foods Ltd and his tenure within the TDP while the party was in power between 2014 and 2019 also became the focal point of the investigation. The Inner Ring Road (IRR) scam revolves around allegations of irregularities in the construction of an internal ring road in Amaravati city. The CID has asserted that the road’s alignment was manipulated to grant undue advantages to companies associated with TDP leaders, including former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

In response, Nara Lokesh has vehemently denied any wrongdoing and claimed that his father’s arrest was a result of political vendetta, lacking substantial evidence of guilt. He has been named as accused number 14 (A-14) in the Inner Ring Road case.
