Altaf Hussain Advocates Constitutional Amendment to Curb Army General Interference in Politics
In a live video address from London, Altaf Hussain, founder of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), emphasized the necessity of amending Pakistan’s constitution.
He proposed that if an army general interferes in politics, they should be instantly removed and face court martial. Hussain questioned the Army Chief’s authority to provide political advice, deeming it unconstitutional.
Criticizing the presence of army officers in civilian institutions, he called for action against political engineering and urged the judiciary and election commission to address these issues.
Hussain urged the public to raise their voices for true democracy and liberation from military influence.
