Nursing students pursuing Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees gathered at the press enclave in Srinagar on a recent Saturday to voice their concerns and protest the delay in counseling procedures by the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE).
Holding up placards, these students passionately expressed their grievances against the administrative delays and demanded justice.During interactions with the media, the students shared their worries regarding BOPEE’s failure to kickstart the second round of counseling.
They questioned why access to both private and government colleges had not been granted. One of the students participating in the protest emphasized that the protest had been compelled by the recent release of the selection list, which revealed disparities in the placement of students.

Some were selected, while others were left without college placements during the initial counseling round. The students pointed out that the earlier notifications clearly indicated that seats designated for the CDP (Common Determination Process) category remained unoccupied, necessitating the need for a second round of counseling. When the students visited the BOPEE office seeking answers, they were redirected to the Indian Nursing Council (INC).
However, the INC informed them that they could not take any action until the paramedical council contacted them. Frustration and confusion loomed large among the students, as they noted that there were approximately 1500 vacant seats, and they urgently sought clarification from the responsible authorities.
