Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Accuses BJP of Political Raids
Amid the ongoing election season in Rajasthan, the state has become a hotbed of political controversies. Recently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at the residences of the state Congress president, Govind Singh Dotasara, in Jaipur and Sikar. Additionally, a coaching center allegedly linked to Dotasara was also searched. In another development, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s son, Vaibhav Gehlot, was summoned by the ED for questioning in a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) case.
Congress President’s Defiant Response
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge strongly criticized these actions by stating, “They (BJP) want to spoil Gehlot’s election and demoralize and scare Congress leaders. They do it always. We won’t be scared; we will fight strongly and will face this. Whatever they are doing is not right. We have been in politics for 50 years, but ED and IT raids during election time have never happened. But today, they are doing this to scare the CM. But one day they too will have to suffer.”
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot Labels It as “Goondaism”
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot did not mince words when he attacked the BJP government, describing the raids as “goondaism.” He alleged that the central government had “created terror” in the country through probe agencies. During a press conference, Gehlot voiced his concern about the situation and criticized the BJP for resorting to “goondaism” instead of winning people over through policies, behavior, and democratic principles. He implied that the central government’s actions were aimed at influencing the upcoming Rajasthan assembly elections.
Sachin Pilot Expresses Doubts
Congress leader Sachin Pilot expressed suspicion about the “timing,” “objective,” and “intent” behind the raids conducted by central government agencies in Rajasthan. He suggested that the BJP might be feeling vulnerable ahead of the Rajasthan assembly elections and criticized the BJP for specifically targeting Congress leaders without factual evidence. He accused them of attempting to use central agencies to influence the election outcome.
As the political turmoil continues to unfold in Rajasthan, the state braces itself for the upcoming assembly elections, with polling scheduled for November 25 and vote counting on December 3.
