World Rabies Day Observed at GMC Doda

Doda, September 29: The Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College (GMC) Doda, observed World Rabies Day with great enthusiasm and awareness activities.

The programme was graced by Dr. Rakesh Bahl, Principal GMC Doda, who appreciated the efforts of the department in spreading awareness about rabies prevention and control. Dr. Suresh Kotwal, Head of the Department of Community Medicine, led the event and highlighted the importance of timely vaccination and public education in eliminating rabies.

Active participation was seen from Dr. Walied K Balwan (Assistant Professor), Dr. Imran Zaffer (Senior Resident), Dr. Anzar Majeed (Incharge Anti-Rabies Section), and Dr. Khalid (Incharge Medical Officer, RHTC Bhalla), along with other faculty members from different departments.

The event also witnessed the presence of interns, MBBS students, and nursing students, who engaged in awareness-building activities. The programme focused on educating the public about animal bite management, the importance of completing anti-rabies vaccination, and preventive measures to combat this fatal yet preventable disease.

The day concluded with an interactive session emphasising the global theme of World Rabies Day, Act now: You, Me Community, and reinforcing the commitment of GMC Doda towards community health and rabies elimination.
