Prohibitory Orders Imposed in Doda Under Section 163 BNSS; Administration warns of punitive action for any violation
Doda, September 10, 2025: The District Administration of Doda has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, in view of apprehensions regarding possible disturbances to peace, tranquility, and law and order.
In an official order issued on Tuesday, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Anil Kumar Thakur, UKAS, stated that there were credible concerns about unlawful assemblies and provocative activities that could disrupt public harmony in the district. The order restricts public gatherings of more than four persons, bans provocative speeches, slogans or gestures, and prohibits individuals from carrying lathis or sharp-edged weapons in public places.
The ADM emphasized that these measures were necessary as a precaution to safeguard the lives and property of citizens within the territorial jurisdiction of District Doda. He further directed the Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda, to ensure strict enforcement of the restrictions in both letter and spirit.
The administration has warned that any violation of the prohibitory order will invite punitive action under the relevant sections of law. The order, issued under No. 3600-14/DM/Doda on September 9, 2025, has been circulated to senior police, revenue, and administrative officials, including the Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, UT of Jammu and Kashmir, and the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, for necessary compliance and monitoring.
Authorities have appealed to the public to extend cooperation with law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and harmony across the district.
Yesterday, a huge protest was recorded at District Headquarter Doda.
