
District Level Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament Concludes at GHS Ghat, Doda
SSP Doda distributes encouraging Prizes
Under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2024–25, District Police Doda successfully organised a District Level Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament at Government High School (GHS), Ghat, Doda. The tournament which started on 20th June 2025 witnessed overwhelming participation from 32 teams across the district and was aimed at fostering sportsmanship, engaging youth in constructive activities, and paying homage to the valiant martyrs who laid down their lives in service of the nation.
All the league matches were played with full enthusiasm and attracted hundreds of audience from the local areas.
In a thrilling final match, Shining Cricket Club Doda, led by Nowshair Butt, faced off against ANK Warriors Bhaderwah, captained by Arif Rather. Batting first, ANK Warriors posted a competitive total of 174 runs in 15 overs. Rising to the challenge, Shining Cricket Club Doda displayed outstanding batting prowess and successfully chased the target in just 14 overs, securing the championship title.

Shining Cricket Club Doda was awarded the winners’ trophy along with a cash prize while the runners-up, ANK Warriors Bhaderwah, received a runners up trophy and a cash prize also. Rehan Fazal of Shining Cricket Club Doda was declared Man of the Tournament for his all-round performance, having scored 152 runs and taken 10 wickets. He was awarded a trophy and ₹10,000 in cash. Aqib Zargar of Shining Cricket Club Doda was named Best Batter for scoring 207 runs in the tournament and received a trophy and ₹5,000 cash prize. The Best Bowler award went to Arif Rather of ANK Warriors Bhaderwah, who took 9 wickets and was also felicitated with a trophy and ₹5,000 cash.
In the final match, prize distribution ceremony was graced by SSP Doda, Sh. Sandeep Mehta, JKPS, as Chief Guest, who applauded the talent, discipline, and sportsmanship displayed by the participating teams. He emphasized the importance of such events in channelising the energy of youth in a positive direction and strengthening community-police relations. Other senior officers present on the occasion included Additional SP Doda Sh. Mohd Aslam, JKPS, DySP DAR Doda Sh. Adil Rishu, JKPS, and DySP SOG Doda Sh. Abdul Rehman. The event was witnessed by a large and enthusiastic crowd from all walks of life, reflecting the community’s support and interest in youth-oriented initiatives.
District Police Doda reaffirms its commitment to fostering harmony, promoting talent, and creating platforms for youth engagement through sports and public outreach activities under the Civic Action Programme.
