
MLA Shagun Parihar Writes to DC as Wind and Hailstorms Batter Kishtwar
In a major development, MLA Shagun Parihar has sought immediate relief from the District Red Cross Fund for the victims affected by the recent wind and hailstorm in Kuntwara village of Kishtwar district.
As per reports, torrential rainfall accompanied by strong winds and hailstorms across the region has caused severe destruction to homes, leaving many families more vulnerable to environmental hazards. Among the affected, the house of Jeewan Lal, a resident of Bhatkoot, Kishtwar, was damaged due to the heavy rain and strong winds. Similarly, the residential properties of Mulkh Raj, son of Laxman Das (resident of Bhatkoot), and Ravinder Kumar, son of Sadhu Ram (resident of Nagseel, Kishtwar), were also significantly damaged. In this regard, MLA Shagun Parihar has written to the Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, urging the Revenue Department officials to conduct prompt verification so that the affected families receive timely financial assistance.

In an unfortunate incident, the livestock of Suresh Kumar Sharma, son of Chait Ram, a resident of Haddar, Kuntwara, was attacked by a bear during the night. Eight animals were killed, and seven remain missing, severely impacting the livelihood of the victim. Given that this livestock was the main source of sustenance for the family, MLA Shagun Parihar has also sought immediate relief in this case.
Additionally, MLA Shagun Parihar has written to the Deputy Commissioner to request an enhancement in the honorarium for volunteer teachers engaged at the Temporary Tutorial Centre established in Village Khai, Kuntwara. These teachers are currently being paid an honorarium of Rs. 5,000 per month from the District Red Cross Fund. The MLA has proposed an increase to Rs. 15,000 per month to attract competent candidates and ensure greater accountability, continuity, and improved learning outcomes for students in this underserved region.
