Jammu Kashmir: Entire Staff of Ramban School Suspended After Student Found Locked Inside Building
RAMBAN, July 7 [VoM News]: The Chief Education Officer (CEO), Ramban, has suspended the entire staff of Government Middle School, Krawah, in Banihal zone after a student was reportedly found locked inside the school premises for several hours.
According to an official order, the incident occurred on July 4 when the student was discovered inside the school building at around 8 p.m., hours after the school had closed and just before the commencement of the summer vacation.
The CEO said the incident prima facie indicated gross negligence and dereliction of duty by the staff responsible for student safety and supervision. The order noted that the lapse had the potential to endanger the child’s life and safety.
Pending the outcome of an inquiry, all employees of Government Middle School, Krawah, have been placed under suspension under Rule 31 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956.
A three-member inquiry committee has been constituted to investigate the incident. The panel has been directed to determine responsibility, examine the circumstances leading to the lapse, and submit its report with recommendations within three days.
Meanwhile, the Education Department has deputed five teachers, the Head of the Institution, two NYCs and one Physical Education Teacher (PET) to Government Middle School, Krawah, to ensure that academic activities continue without disruption.
