    Doda, April 19:- On the directions of District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Doda, Tariq Qazi, an awareness program was organized by Mission Shakti, Social Welfare Department Doda, in collaboration with the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Bhaderwah. The program aimed to educate students about potential harassment situations and empower them with strategies to protect themselves against various forms of abuse.

    The team sensitized the students on the crucial concepts of good touch and bad touch and guided them on how to respond when faced with inappropriate behavior. Students were encouraged to trust their instincts, assert their boundaries, and confidently say “no” or ask the person to stop if they experience any unwanted physical contact. They were also advised to promptly report such incidents to a trusted adult.

    Teachers were reminded of their responsibility to foster a safe and supportive environment where students feel secure and are able to express their concerns without fear or hesitation. The session also included an insightful discussion on child rights, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling children’s basic needs and protecting them from harm.

    Particular attention was given to safeguarding girls from exploitation, abuse, and neglect, while also ensuring their access to education, healthcare, and essential services. The participants were introduced to key legal frameworks including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, along with their significance and implementation.

    The session concluded by providing students with essential helpline numbers, including Childline 1098, Women Helpline 181, and Police Helpline 100.
