District Election Officer (DEO) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), along with SSP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom (JKPS), inspected the preparations for the upcoming vote counting process. The visit included a detailed inspection of the strong rooms at Kendriya Vidyalaya, where the polled Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) from the recent Assembly Elections are securely stored.

The DEO meticulously assessed the three-tier security system, ensuring adherence to all protocols. He reviewed the log register, CCTV surveillance, and the control room. The security measures include 24×7 deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel around the strong rooms.

One of the key focuses of the inspection was the proposed counting centers, situated next to the strong rooms. The DEO expressed satisfaction with the preparations led by the Returning Officers (ROs) and supported by the Public Works Department (PWD).

Following the inspection, Shavan held a detailed meeting with District and Assembly Level Master Trainers to refine the district’s readiness for the counting process scheduled for October 8, 2024.

Further, Shavan instructed Election Naib Tehsildar Angrez Singh Jasrotia to coordinate with the trainers and initiate counting staff training sessions, ensuring compliance with Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines.

Discussions covered topics like manpower deployment, media cell setup, traffic management, and post-counting victory processions. The DEO reiterated the need for precision in all arrangements to ensure a smooth and transparent counting process.
