In a tragic incident in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, a 27-year-old man was killed in an attack by a black bear.

Mohd Cheriya, a resident of Saroor, was in the Halander forest area around 8 am on Tuesday, grazing his cattle. It was at this time that the bear launched a brutal attack on him.

Local officials reported that Cheriya was alone in the forest when the bear attacked. Despite immediate efforts by nearby residents who rushed to his aid upon hearing his cries, Cheriya succumbed to his injuries before he could be transported to a hospital.

The bear, which had initially launched the attack, fled into the depths of the forest as locals chased it away.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack and assessing the measures needed to protect local communities from similar incidents in the future.
