Recovery Efforts Continue in North Sikkim After Flash Floods

Efforts are underway to restore connectivity in areas isolated by flash floods in north Sikkim, with temporary bridges and other means being set up.

Evacuations of stranded tourists also continue, with around 690 tourists, including 26 foreigners, already rescued by the Indian Air Force (IAF).

The remaining travelers are expected to be shifted as clear weather is forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Additionally, mobile phone connectivity has been restored in Lachung.

The flash floods occurred on October 4, leading to 76 people still missing and 36 bodies found in Sikkim, with an additional 41 bodies found in West Bengal.
