The 20th Emirates Critical Care Conference and the First World Summit of the World Federation of Intensive Care and Critical Care commenced today, attracting over 2000 medical and nursing professionals from 42 countries. Hosted by Hussain Nasser Al Rahma, President of the Conference, the event aims to explore cutting-edge technologies in critical care, such as artificial respiration and innovative medications.
Al Rahma highlighted the conference’s evolution since its inception in 2004, now recognized as one of the largest gatherings in intensive care, fostering collaboration among 45 associations worldwide. With 301 speakers, including international experts, the three-day event features 310 lectures, 81 scientific sessions, and various workshops and training courses.
Key focus areas include blood poisoning, infection, acute respiratory distress syndrome, anaesthesia, and cardiac care. George Helalgo, President of the International Society for Intensive Care, hailed the conference’s success, emphasizing its significance in the Gulf region and the Middle East for advancing critical care research and innovation.
Amelia Lako, Head of Nursing at the World Health Organization, underscored the pivotal role of nurses in critical care units, noting their contribution exceeding 70%. The event also includes an exhibition featuring 40 companies from the pharmaceutical and medical devices industry.
The summit serves as a platform for exchanging experiences, discussing advancements, and signing agreements with international bodies to enhance critical care practices globally.
