In a tragic incident today near Mount Kun in Ladakh, a soldier made the ultimate sacrifice, while three more are currently unaccounted for following an avalanche.
According to defense sources, the incident occurred during routine training activities involving approximately 40 Army personnel from the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) and the Army Adventure Wing of the Army.
These exercises are standard during this season and are designed to provide realistic mountaineering training, aligning with the “Train the Trainer” concept.Regrettably, during their training ascent on October 8, the group encountered an unexpected avalanche, resulting in four dedicated personnel being trapped beneath the snow. Immediate rescue operations were launched and are still ongoing.
