The Election Commission achieved a remarkable feat by facilitating smooth voting for 160 voters at Raireshwar Fort, nestled at a staggering altitude of 4,491 feet, during the third phase of Lok Sabha polls. Situated 30 kilometers from Bhor taluka in Pune rural, the polling party embarked on a challenging journey, driving to the foothills of Raireshwar and trekking an additional 18 km via Rairi to reach the base of the fort. Equipped with essential voting machinery, including EVMs and VVPAT devices, election staff traversed difficult terrain to uphold the democratic process.

Despite facing various challenges, including negotiating rugged paths and utilizing iron ladders for access, the polling staff exemplified their commitment to democracy. According to Maharashtra Tourism, Raireshwar, a hill fort of historical significance, hosts the polling booth, covering six assembly seats in the Baramati constituency.

The third phase of Lok Sabha polls witnessed varying voter turnouts across states and union territories. Assam recorded the highest turnout at 75.01%, while Maharashtra reported the lowest at 53.95%. With 48 Lok Sabha seats, Maharashtra is the second-largest contributor to Parliament. The elections spanned across multiple states and union territories, including Maharashtra, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, with the BJP securing the Surat seat unopposed.
