    Air Commodore Sagar Singh Rawat, Vayu Sena Medal, the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of Air Force Station, Jammu, has affirmed the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) unwavering readiness to confront potential challenges. In light of the looming Air Force Day on October 8, 2023, Air Commodore Rawat emphasized the IAF’s commitment to addressing any contingencies, particularly the emerging threat of drones emanating from across the Indo-Pak border in the Jammu region.

    Comprehensive Measures to Counter Drone Threats

    During a recent press conference in Jammu, Air Commodore Rawat elucidated that comprehensive measures have been meticulously put in place to mitigate the risks posed by drones. He confidently stated, “We are prepared for any eventuality, and all measures are in place.” When queried about the success rate of IAF’s surveillance operations, Rawat asserted that the majority of these operations had yielded positive results. He underscored the efficiency of IAF’s surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities and noted that the IAF operates in close coordination with the Army during such critical operations.

    Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Operation in Himachal Pradesh

    Highlighting the IAF’s commitment to humanitarian causes, Air Commodore Rawat discussed a recent Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operation conducted in response to the devastating floods in Himachal Pradesh. The operation was spearheaded by the 130 Helicopter Unit (Condors) based in Jammu, equipped with Mil Mi-17 helicopters.

    Garud Commandos Instill Confidence

    Commanding officer of the 130 Helicopter Unit, Irfan Juriyal, emphasized the crucial role of helicopters in addressing the challenging terrain of Jammu and Kashmir. He affirmed the IAF’s commitment to assisting people in distress during natural calamities, stating, “People can trust us, as we are always available to assist during Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations.” Juriyal highlighted the challenges faced during such operations and the pivotal role played by Garud Commandos in restoring confidence among those being evacuated.

    Exemplary Coordination and Professionalism

    Wing Commander Juriyal emphasized the exemplary coordination among various teams involved in the HADR operation. He specifically praised the technical and mechanical teams, as well as the operational and command system teams, for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the operation’s success. Despite the daunting topography of the area, the IAF’s well-trained crew executed the evacuation mission with utmost professionalism and dedication, underlining the IAF’s commitment to saving lives in times of crisis.
