INDIA Bloc’s Demands to Election Commission
At a mega rally in Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, Congress’s Priyanka Gandhi Vadra presented five demands of the Opposition to the Election Commission, stressing the need for a fair electoral process. The event, organized by the INDIA bloc, showcased leaders from various opposition parties advocating for the release of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Jharkhand’s former Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Opposition’s Concerns and Demands
Opposition leaders voiced concerns about the health of the country’s democracy, accusing the BJP of targeting the Opposition through central investigative agencies. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra highlighted the demands, including the cessation of efforts to disrupt opposition party finances and the halting of actions by enforcement agencies. Additionally, they called for a Supreme Court-monitored Special Investigation Team to probe alleged fund extortion through the electoral bonds scheme.
Unity in Opposition and Fight for Democracy
The “Loktantra Bachao Rally” symbolized the INDIA bloc’s determination to uphold democracy in India. Leaders emphasized the importance of defending the Constitution and the republic against perceived threats. The rally also underscored unity within the opposition ranks, despite recent disagreements, with leaders affirming their commitment to combating authoritarianism and protecting democratic values.
