Qualcomm recently unveiled the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, its latest flagship-grade chipset equipped with advanced on-device artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Positioned as a more budget-friendly alternative to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, this new 4nm chipset inherits key features while enhancing AI capabilities.
Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Availability and Specifications
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is set to power smartphones from various manufacturers, including Honor, iQoo, Redmi, Realme, and Xiaomi. The first device featuring this chipset is expected to launch later this month, although specific details remain undisclosed.
Crafted on a 4nm architecture, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 boasts an octa-core configuration, including a Prime core clocked at 3.0GHz, four performance cores reaching up to 2.8GHz, and three efficiency cores at 2.0GHz. Its Adreno GPU supports HDR gaming and real-time hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
Advanced AI Capabilities and Connectivity Features
With support for on-device generative AI models with up to 10 billion parameters, the chipset facilitates content generation from various prompts. Additionally, it enables capturing 200-megapixel images, backed by a triple 18-bit ISP setup and AI-based face detection for improved photo and video quality.
Regarding connectivity, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 features the Snapdragon X70 5G Modem-RF system, offering Dual-Sim Dual Active (DSDA) support for both mmWave and Sub-6 5G networks. It supports 4K and Quad-HD+ displays, ultra-low power always-sensing cameras for quick facial unlocking, and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.
The Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 system provides up to 5.8Gbps download speeds over Wi-Fi 7 networks, while dual Bluetooth antennas and Snapdragon Sound enhance Bluetooth connectivity and audio experiences.
