Amidst heightened anticipation, the Election Commission of India has revealed that the poll dates for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 will be disclosed on Saturday. Additionally, the Commission will unveil the Assembly election dates for select states. This pivotal announcement is scheduled for a press conference on Saturday at 3 pm.

On Wednesday, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar hinted at the possibility of the Election Commission deciding whether to conduct Lok Sabha Elections and Assembly Elections concurrently or separately in Jammu and Kashmir. This decision hinges on a thorough assessment of the prevailing security situation in the region.
Earlier in 2019, the Lok Sabha elections spanned seven phases from April 11 to May 19, culminating in the declaration of results on May 23. Notably, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a commanding victory, clinching 303 seats, while the opposition trailed with a mere 52 seats.

Political fervor is on the rise, with parties swiftly announcing their contenders for the upcoming general elections. The BJP has unveiled two comprehensive lists of candidates, mirroring the proactive stance of the Congress, which has also disclosed two lists of candidates for the impending polls.
In a recent development, the Election Commission unveiled crucial data on electoral bonds on March 14, accessible via its official website. This disclosure sheds light on significant contributors to political parties, with notable names such as Future Gaming and Hotel Services and Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd emerging as top donors.
Various legal challenges have emerged, with petitions lodged before the apex court contesting amendments introduced to diverse statutes through the Finance Act 2017 and Finance Act 2016. Critics argue that these amendments have inadvertently facilitated unchecked funding of political parties, prompting a fervent debate on campaign finance reform.
