Assam Government Increases Dearness Allowance
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a four per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees, effective from January 1, 2024.
Local Recruitment for Grade-IV Posts
Sarma also revealed plans for the recruitment of Grade-IV employees in schools, with a focus on local candidates based on merit.
Initiatives under ‘PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli’ Scheme
Additionally, Sarma highlighted the ‘PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli’ Scheme, mentioning the sanction of Rs 75,000 crore by the central government. He detailed subsidies for solar panels and interest-free bank loans for state government and electricity board employees.
Union Cabinet Approves Similar Hike
In a separate development, the Union Cabinet approved a four per cent increase in Dearness Allowance for central government employees and Dearness Relief for pensioners, also effective from January 1, 2024.
