Omar Abdullah Claims NC is Gaining Momentum Toward Victory in LHDC Elections
Ladakh Residents Convey Message Through Elections
In a fervent display of political resolve, Omar Abdullah, the Vice President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, has refuted claims of the ruling dispensation regarding the National Conference’s decline in Ladakh. Instead, he has boldly asserted that the NC is poised for a significant victory in the forthcoming Ladakh Hill Development Council (LHDC) elections.
Kargil’s Unique Perspective on Council Elections
During his daily tour of Kargil, Omar Abdullah passionately addressed election gatherings and rallies in Dras and other locales. Here, he unveiled the distinct viewpoint of the people of Kargil, who perceive these council elections as more than just general polls. For them, it’s an unparalleled opportunity to convey a powerful message, resonating both with the local administration and the entire nation. He went on to emphasize that the events of 5th August 2019, characterized by their wrongful, undemocratic, and unconstitutional nature, failed to align with the aspirations of the people of Kargil.

Champions of Kargil’s Cause
Omar Abdullah was not alone in his address; he was joined by prominent figures from the National Conference, including Party Assistant General Secretary Qamar Ali Akhoon, Senior Leader Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Treasurer Shami Oberoi, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, and Chief Spokesperson Tanveer Sadiq. Together, they showcased their unwavering commitment to championing the cause of Kargil and its residents.
Uncertainty Looms Over Jammu and Kashmir Elections
In contrast, while council elections are progressing as scheduled in Kargil, a cloud of uncertainty hangs over Jammu and Kashmir regarding the timing and occurrence of elections. The BJP’s reluctance to hold elections, given the diminishing public support in their supposed stronghold—the Jammu plains—is apparent.Omar Abdullah has consistently warned of the consequences of Article 370’s abrogation, particularly for Leh and Jammu.
He emphasized the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir, where jobs, contracts, and administration have been outsourced in Ladakh and Jammu. The people now aspire to use their votes to reverse these actions.
A Defiant Stand Against Manipulation
Despite attempts from New Delhi to manipulate the rules, such as altering the number of nominated seats, in a bid to secure control of the Kargil council, Omar Abdullah remains defiant.
He firmly believes that such efforts will be in vain, as the people of Kargil see this election as a potent means to send a resounding message. This message is not just directed at the local administration but at the entire nation, emphasizing that the events of August 5, 2019, should never be repeated.
As the LHDC elections in Kargil approach, Omar Abdullah’s resolute spirit and the unwavering support of the people suggest that the National Conference’s victory might indeed make history. The plough symbol, despite opposition from the Ladakh administration aligned with the BJP, continues to symbolize hope and determination for Kargil and its residents.
