Donald Trump Officially Nominates Ex-Personal Lawyer Todd Blanche as Permanent Attorney General of the United States
WASHINGTON, JUNE 09, 2026 [VoM News]: In a contentious move likely to face scrutiny in the Senate, United States President Donald Trump has officially nominated his former personal lawyer Todd Blanche as the permanent Attorney General of the United States.
Blanche has faced criticism from both Democrats and Republicans for supporting a proposed $1.8 billion compensation fund aimed at assisting allies facing legal prosecution under former President Joe Biden.
Since the removal of Pam Bondi in April, Todd Blanche has been serving as Acting Attorney General. During his tenure, he reportedly pursued several legal actions against opponents of the Trump administration.
Though Blanche’s nomination was submitted to the Senate last week, it still requires Senate approval, which could prove challenging amid reports of divisions in Congress and declining approval ratings for Trump’s administrative setup.
