Telangana’s Fiscal Blueprint Unveiled: Rs 2,75,891 Crore Interim Budget for 2024-25
Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has unveiled the Vote on Account budget for 2024-25, presenting a comprehensive financial plan with a total expenditure of Rs 2,75,891 crore. This interim budget, the first under the Congress government’s administration since December 2023, outlines key allocations and strategies for the state’s development.
Strategic Allocations and Focus Areas
The budget allocates Rs 19,746 crores for agriculture and Rs 28,024 crores for irrigation, emphasizing the government’s commitment to bolstering these crucial sectors. A significant portion, Rs 53,196 crores, is earmarked for the implementation of six poll ‘guarantees’ promised by the ruling Congress.
Addressing Financial Challenges and Prioritizing Development
Deputy Chief Minister Vikramarka acknowledged the financial challenges inherited from the previous administration, asserting that unplanned loans have burdened the state. Despite this, the budget is framed with planned developmental goals, aiming to mitigate the impact of financial strains while standing by the people.
Efficiency Measures and People-Centric Approach
The Congress government plans to reduce wasteful expenditure in day-to-day government operations and curtail spending on unnecessary infrastructural assets. The overarching goal is to ensure overall development, progress, and the well-being of the people. The budget aligns with the commitment to establish ‘Indiramma Rajyam’—a governance model inspired by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi—reflecting the Congress government’s dedication to the state’s comprehensive development.
Central Focus on Telangana’s Development Journey
Deputy Chief Minister Vikramarka highlighted the central focus of the budget as the overall development of Telangana. With a commitment to people’s happiness and progress, the fiscal blueprint aims to set the course for the state’s future growth and prosperity.
