Ipsos Survey: 76% of Pakistanis Willing to Accept Election Results
A recent Ipsos survey reveals that approximately 76 percent of Pakistanis are willing to accept the results of the upcoming general elections in 2024, while seven percent harbor reservations, as reported by ARY News. The survey, conducted to gauge public sentiment ahead of the February 8 elections, underscores the majority’s commitment to upholding the democratic system and electoral process in Pakistan. Interestingly, the survey also highlights a 17 percent ratio of individuals who did not participate in the voting process.
Analysis of the survey data reveals that 77 percent of rural dwellers and 74 percent of urban residents express readiness to accept the election outcomes. Notably, rural areas exhibit a higher confidence level in the transparency of the electoral process and the legitimacy of the results.
Across different regions of Pakistan, the survey indicates varying degrees of acceptance towards the election results. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 79 percent of respondents express readiness to accept the outcomes, while the figure stands at 78 percent in Punjab. In Sindh, 74 percent of respondents exhibit a willingness to accept the results, followed by 63 percent in Balochistan and 53 percent in Islamabad.
With the general elections looming, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has provided a convenient mechanism for voters to ascertain their designated polling stations. By texting their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number to 8300, voters can receive information regarding their polling station location and pertinent details. Notably, bringing the original CNIC to the polling place is imperative, as photocopies are not permitted.
