Advancing Justice through Technology: Amit Shah Advocates Three A’s Approach
Addressing the Valedictory Ceremony of CLEA-Commonwealth Attorneys and Solicitors General Conference (CAGSC-24), Union Home Minister Amit Shah underscored the significance of leveraging technology to simplify the judicial system. He advocated the adoption of the three A’s approach for the justice system—Accessible, Affordable, and Accountable. Shah emphasized the need to make maximum use of technology to ensure these principles. He highlighted the transformation required in the judiciary to address cross-border challenges and stressed the importance of incorporating technology throughout the justice process.
Modernizing Criminal Justice: Shah’s Vision for India’s Legal Landscape
Amit Shah outlined the evolving nature of the legal landscape, emphasizing the necessity for a modern criminal justice system. He expressed confidence that the implementation of three new criminal laws would position India’s criminal justice system as the most modern in the world. The laws integrate technology and forensic science, supporting evidence-based prosecution. Shah highlighted the central government’s commitment to promoting a forward-thinking legal framework through these legislative measures.
Infrastructure and Resource Commitment: A Holistic Approach to Legal Reforms
The Union Home Minister highlighted the comprehensive approach taken by the government in tandem with legal reforms. He noted the provision for punishment of seven years and above in all relevant sections, along with the mandatory role of Scientific Officers from Forensic Science Laboratories (FSL). Shah commended the groundwork laid in infrastructure and human resources, including the establishment of the FSL University. Concluding, he expressed optimism that the implementation of these laws would propel India’s judiciary system forward from the outset.
