Jharkhand CM Champai Soren to Face Floor Test Amidst Political Tensions
Amid political tensions, newly appointed Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren is set to face a floor test on Monday, aiming to prove the majority of his government in the state assembly. The coalition government led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has taken precautionary measures to shield its 40 MLAs from poaching attempts, keeping them at a resort near Hyderabad. The floor test follows the resignation of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren amid an ED investigation, and political allegations of BJP targeting the JMM for weakening ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Protected Location for MLAs Ahead of Floor Test
To prevent poaching attempts and ensure a secure floor test, the MLAs of the coalition government are being housed at a “protected place” near Hyderabad, according to Jharkhand Congress in-charge Ghulam Ahmad Mir. The move aims to maintain the integrity of the coalition and safeguard against external pressures during the crucial floor test.
Allegations of Political Conspiracy and Stability Challenges
Former Chief Minister Hemant Soren alleges that the BJP attempted to destabilize the Jharkhand government, accusing the Centre of a deliberate targeting strategy. Despite challenges, the coalition government aims to withstand external pressures and secure a majority in the assembly.
As Jharkhand’s political landscape undergoes shifts, the floor test will be a significant moment determining the stability and legitimacy of Champai Soren’s government. The JMM-Congress-RJD alliance faces the test against the backdrop of recent political developments and allegations of external interference.
