JK Govt Implements Stricter Social Media Guidelines for Government Employees
The Directorate of Family Welfare, MCH & Immunization in Jammu and Kashmir has introduced comprehensive social media guidelines for government employees, aimed at regulating their online behavior and maintaining professionalism in the digital space.
Restrictions on Criticizing Government and Political Content
The newly issued guidelines impose several restrictions on government employees regarding their social media activities. Firstly, employees are expressly forbidden from using social media platforms to criticize government policies or actions. This prohibition encompasses various forms of communication, including radio broadcasts, published documents, and public statements. Employees are strictly barred from making factual statements or expressing opinions that criticize government policies.
Confidentiality and Communication
The guidelines underscore the importance of safeguarding confidential information. Government employees are prohibited from posting, publishing, or sharing any information on social media that is confidential or not intended for public disclosure. Furthermore, they are barred from transmitting official documents or any part thereof to individuals who lack authorization to receive such documents or information.
Avoiding Discussions and Criticism of Government Policies
To promote professionalism and prevent potential conflicts of interest, government employees are instructed not to engage in discussions or criticisms of government policies or actions on social media platforms. This directive extends to all forms of social media communication, including posts, tweets, and other online interactions. Employees are also discouraged from participating in discussions or criticisms of government policies on various social media platforms, communities, or microblogs.
These guidelines serve as a reminder for government employees to exercise discretion and adhere to ethical standards when using social media, helping to maintain the integrity and professionalism of public service in Jammu and Kashmir.
