IIT Guwahati Successfully Conducts Phase 3 of ‘Yuva Sangam’ Program

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has concluded Phase 3 of the ‘Yuva Sangam’ program, an initiative under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ by the Ministry of Education. Serving as the nodal center for Assam, IIT Guwahati hosted 41 student delegates and 5 faculty coordinators from 26 Higher Education Institutions of Maharashtra. The program, held from January 16 to January 23, 2024, focused on cultural exchange and immersive learning experiences, covering areas like Tourism, Traditions, Development, People-to-people connect, and Technology.

Highlights of Yuva Sangam Phase 3 at IIT Guwahati:

• Cultural Exchange: The program provided a platform for cultural exchange and learning experiences. Student delegates engaged in activities focused on various themes, including Paryatan (Tourism), Traditions, Pragati (Development), Paraspar Smapark (People-to-people connect), and Prodyogik (Technology).
• Visit to Darrangamela Village: Delegates visited Darrangamela village on the India-Bhutan border, exploring its unique cultural amalgamation, traditional practices, and socio-economic dynamics.
• Interaction with Assam Governor: On January 18, 2024, student delegates engaged in a live Q&A session with the Governor of Assam, Gulab Chand Kataria, discussing the role of youth in technological development for a progressive India.
• Exploration of Sualkuchi Village: Delegates explored Sualkuchi, one of the world’s largest weaving villages known for producing fine silk in Assam. The visit provided insights into silk weaving culture and indigenous technologies.
• Sports Event and Presentation Session: A sports event was organized for delegates to build connections, followed by a presentation session on startup-related initiatives at IIT Guwahati, encouraging them to consider entrepreneurship.
• Visit to Signova Healthcare: Delegates visited Signova Healthcare, a pharmaceutical company, gaining insights into advanced pharmaceutical technologies and the evolving landscape of healthcare innovation.
• Cultural Event: A cultural event organized by IIT Guwahati and Assamese participants showcased traditional music, dance, and artistic expressions, introducing delegates to Assam’s rich cultural heritage.
• Interaction and Learning: Delegates received an opportunity to interact, learn, and exchange ideas not only about Assamese culture but also from each other, fostering mutual understanding and celebrating India’s rich diversity.
