All passenger vehicles in the Kashmir Valley are set to participate in a two-day ‘Steering Chodo Andolan’ on January 9 and January 10. Mohammad Shafi Mir, Chairman of the All Kashmir Transporters’ Confederation, announced that the strike is in solidarity with transporters in Maharashtra, New Delhi, and various other states. The decision to cooperate with the strike was mutually agreed upon by the Kashmir-based transporters’ confederation.

Mir stated, “All types of passenger vehicles will observe the ‘Steering Chodo Andolan’ on January 9 and January 10.” It is noteworthy that the All JK Oil Tankers Association, through a video statement, denied any reports of a strike called by the association.

The primary demand of the transporters is the reversal of penal provisions implemented by the Government of India concerning hit-and-run cases.
