Gangster Sharad Mohol Shot Dead by His Own Associates in Pune; Eight Arrested, Probe Intensifies
In a shocking incident, gangster Sharad Mohol met his demise at the hands of his own gang members in Pune. The gruesome event unfolded in the Sutardara locality in Kothrud around 1:30 pm when three to four assailants fired at Mohol from close range. The attack resulted in a fatal bullet piercing his chest while two others struck his right shoulder, leading to his untimely demise.
Police swiftly arrested eight suspects from a vehicle on the Pune-Satara road in connection with the killing. Seizing three pistols, three magazines, and five rounds from the arrested individuals, authorities are delving into the details surrounding Mohol’s murder.
Mohol, aged 40, was a known figure with a history of cases ranging from murder to dacoity. He was previously involved in a case related to the murder of suspected Indian Mujahideen operative Mohammad Qateel Siddiqui inside Yerawada jail but was later acquitted. The police suspect internal disputes within Mohol’s gang concerning land and financial matters might have instigated his assassination.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, clarified that the incident did not signify a gang war but rather Mohol’s demise at the hands of his own accomplices. Fadnavis reassured that the government would handle such notorious elements effectively, preventing the escalation of gang-related violence.
In response to the unfortunate incident, the police have initiated an intensive investigation, forming nine specialized teams to delve into the circumstances surrounding Mohol’s killing.
