Israeli Prime Minister Vows to Continue Fighting Against Hamas
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to keep up the fight against Hamas operatives, despite international calls for a ceasefire and concerns about civilian casualties.
The United Nations humanitarian team leader in Gaza, Gemma Connell, has warned that Palestinian civilians who honor Israeli evacuation orders cannot be guaranteed they will be safe.
Netanyahu visited Israeli troops in northern Gaza and dismissed what he cast as media speculation that his government might call a halt to the fighting.
He stated that Israel would not succeed in freeing its remaining hostages held by Hamas without applying military pressure.
The death count in the conflict has risen significantly, with over 200 people killed in just 24 hours, according to Hamas-controlled authorities.
The Israeli army reports that 152 soldiers have been killed so far in its offense in the Gaza Strip.
The fighting is now centered on Gaza City and the southern city of Khan Yunis, both considered strongholds of the Palestinian group that carried out bloody October 7 raids into Israel.
.
The United States has been pressing Israel to take further steps to minimize civilian harm by designating safe areas and clearing humanitarian routes for people to escape

. However, the death count keeps rising, and Israeli operations have intensified
As the war continues, the United Nations estimates that humanitarian conditions in Gaza are catastrophic, and the majority of Gaza’s 2.3 million population have been driven from their homes.
