Doda-Jammu Helicopter Service Soars, Promises Swift and Affordable Travel
In a momentous stride to enhance travel convenience, the subsidized helicopter service linking Doda to Jammu commenced operations today. The inaugural event, hosted at the District Police Line in Doda, was graced by the presence of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh and SSP Abdul Qayoom. Three passengers from Doda were privileged to be among the pioneer travelers to experience this new and convenient mode of transportation to Jammu.
The formal ceremony, led by Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh in collaboration with SSP Doda, marked a significant step forward. Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Ashfaq Khanji, designated as the nodal officer, will oversee the seamless operations of the helicopter service. Global Vectra Pvt Ltd from Mumbai has been entrusted as the service provider to manage this critical transport link.
Speaking to the media, DC Doda underscored the paramount importance of the helicopter service, particularly for passengers requiring urgent or time-sensitive travel. This aerial option is poised to offer an efficient alternative to the arduous 180 km road journey, significantly cutting down travel time. Priced at an affordable 2500 per person under government subsidy, this service is set to become a readily accessible means of transportation for the public.
Beyond enhancing connectivity, this initiative holds the promise of fostering tourism opportunities, especially during the winter season when certain regions face accessibility challenges. The commencement of this subsidized helicopter service not only addresses immediate travel needs but also contributes to broader regional development objectives.
