Following the release of the Pixel 8 series, Google is rumored to be gearing up for the launch of the Pixel 9 lineup in 2024. Reports circulating online shed light on potential details about the forthcoming smartphones, including a new exclusive Artificial Intelligence assistant, tentatively dubbed ‘Pixie.’

As per The Information (via MySmartPrice), Google is reportedly developing Pixie, a Pixel-specific AI assistant set to encompass the functionalities of the current Google Assistant while offering expanded capabilities. This anticipated assistant might be integrated into the Pixel 9 series, expected next year, although ‘Pixie’ could be an internal codename subject to change for its final release.

The purported Pixie AI assistant aims to amalgamate data from various Google services like Gmail and Maps, facilitating more tailored user assistance. Reports suggest Pixie will undertake complex tasks, including guiding users to nearby stores for items they’ve captured in photographs. The AI assistant is rumored to leverage the power of Gemini Nano for its operations.

Google’s plan extends beyond embedding Pixie solely into the Pixel 9 flagship range, intending to broaden its availability to entry-level phones and diverse devices like wearables. However, it remains uncertain whether Pixie will be exclusive to future Google products or will also extend its support to existing smartphones.

Earlier indications pointed towards the Pixel 9 series being equipped with Tensor G4 SoCs, with the alleged codename “Zuma Pro.” Notably, the current Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro employ Tensor G3 chipsets codenamed “Zuma.” Additionally, the Pixel 9 series is anticipated to be among the initial Android phones incorporating Qi2 wireless charging technology.
