District Development Commissioner (DDC) Harvinder Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abdul Qayoom recently took part in a significant road safety awareness program at TRC Pul Doda.
The initiative aimed to educate participants on the importance of road safety, with a particular focus on drivers and conductors.DDC Doda actively inspected the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) stall, demonstrating a commitment to disaster preparedness. As part of a comprehensive approach to ensuring the well-being of transportation sector personnel, medical check-ups were conducted for drivers and conductors.

The event drew the participation of various officials, including SE R&B Doda, ACD Doda, ARTO, Dy SP Traffic, CEO, EO Municipal Council Doda, Xen PWD R&B, as well as representatives from Transporter’s unions, drivers, and conductors. This diverse representation underscored the collaborative effort across departments to promote safer road practices and reduce the incidence of road accidents.DDC Harvinder Singh, during the program, urged transport agencies to offer insurance options for travelers.
This initiative enables commuters to claim an insurance amount of 2 lakh in the event of any mishap during their travel, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to preserving lives and fostering accountability in the transportation sector. Such measures, combined with awareness programs and inspections, play a crucial role in maintaining and improving road safety standards in the Doda region.
The DC Doda also directed concerned officers to establish restrooms for drivers traveling long distances in specific areas.
