Indian fighter jets will soon be equipped with digital maps, eliminating the need for manual maps and enhancing navigation capabilities, according to DK Sunil, Director of Engineering and R&D at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

The digital maps, designed and produced in India, will be available in 2D and 3D, helping pilots navigate effectively and receive alerts about terrain features.

The initiative aims to prevent incidents like the accidental crossing of borders and enhance situational awareness, contributing to self-reliance in the defense sector.
