The Kashmir Valley experienced a further decrease in night temperatures on Monday, with most areas recording temperatures below the freezing point, except for Srinagar and Kokernag. Gulmarg remained the coldest place in the region at minus 3.3°C.

Temperature Details in Various Regions

  • Srinagar: The night temperature was recorded at 0.7°C, down from 1.4°C the previous night, which is 1.6°C above the normal for this time of the year.
  • Qazigund: Experienced a minimum temperature of minus 0.4°C, a drop from 1.2°C on the previous night, which is 0.6°C above normal.
  • Pahalgam: Recorded a low of minus 3.4°C, down from minus 2.4°C the previous night, marking it 0.1°C below normal for the south Kashmir resort.
  • Kokernag: Also in south Kashmir, the temperature dropped to 0.8°C from 2.6°C the previous night, 1.4°C above the normal.
  • Kupwara: In north Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 2.5°C, a significant drop from 1.2°C on the previous night, and 1.1°C below normal.
  • Gulmarg: The famous skiing resort in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 3.0°C, slightly higher than minus 3.3°C on the previous night, and 0.3°C above normal.

Jammu’s Temperature and Weather Forecast

Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu & Kashmir, recorded a minimum temperature of 11.0°C, up from 10.2°C the previous night, and 1.2°C above normal. The weather forecast up to December 7 indicates mainly dry and partly cloudy conditions. From December 8 to 10, the weather is expected to be partly to generally cloudy.
