Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta inaugurated the first phase of upgraded infrastructure, which includes the renovated Guest House and Hostel building at the Revenue Training Institute in Gole Gujral, Jammu.

The event was attended by key dignitaries, including Financial Commissioner Revenue Shaleen Kabra, DC Jammu Sachin Vaishya, Custodian General S. Rajinder Singh Tara, Additional Commissioner Revenue Rishpal Singh, Regional Director SLR, Principal RTI, Administration Officer, Course Director, and other staff members.

The infrastructure at the Revenue Training Institute, encompassing hostel facilities and the guest house, underwent extensive renovation and upgrading, with a project cost of Rs. 1.5 crore in the financial year 2022-23.

The hostel building and the Guest House had remained non-functional for several years due to the lack of repairs and renovations. Consequently, residential training programs at RTI Jammu were hindered for an extended period. RTI Jammu is a premier training institution that conducts various training programs not only for the Revenue department but also for other departments.

In the calendar year 2023, approximately 990 officers/officials underwent training at RTI Jammu, with plans to propose various online/offline training modules for the training of approximately 4300 officers/officials in the year 2024.

Following the inauguration, Financial Commissioner Revenue Shaleen Kabra engaged in an interactive session with trainee officers attending the training program at the institute. Kabra commended the Revenue Department’s efforts in enhancing transparency and accountability in providing services to the public. He urged the officers and officials to work diligently to ensure the timely delivery of services to the general public.

During the session, trainee officers provided feedback and posed queries and suggestions regarding the online services offered by the Revenue Department. It is noteworthy that the UT of J&K provides 38 online revenue services to citizens, covered under the Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA). Financial Commissioner Revenue J&K emphasized strict enforcement of PSGA timelines.

Additionally, Shaleen Kabra directed the Principal of the Revenue Training Institute to develop both offline and online training modules for Revenue Officers/officials in the next calendar year, based on participant feedback. He suggested preparing and distributing a compendium containing all important Revenue Laws/Rules as reading material for future training programs.
