India Prepares for Second Voice of Global South Summit
India is gearing up to host the second Voice of Global South Summit on November 17, a significant gathering to deliberate on challenges posed by global developments and uphold the momentum for a more inclusive world order. The summit is strategically timed ahead of the virtual G20 Summit.
Virtual Platform for Global South Collaboration
Similar to its inaugural edition in January, the second summit will be conducted virtually, bringing together representatives from 125 countries in the Global South. This initiative serves as a shared platform for nations to express their perspectives and priorities, fostering collaboration on a global scale.
India’s Role as a Representative of the Global South
India has positioned itself as a key representative of the Global South, actively advocating for the recognition of developing countries’ concerns and ensuring their priorities are integral to solutions addressing pressing global challenges. The summit aims to spotlight the outcomes achieved in various G20 meetings during India’s presidency.
Themes and Focus Areas of the Summit
The Voice of Global South Summit will encompass ten sessions, featuring both inaugural and concluding sessions with heads of state or government, hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The overarching theme is “Together, for everyone’s growth, with everyone’s trust.” Additionally, ministerial sessions will delve into crucial topics such as people-centric development, future-ready human resources, climate resilience, and more.
