Tragic Loss Three Heroes Fall in Fierce Anantnag Encounter.
A Heroic Last Conversation
Colonel Manpreet Singh, one of the valiant security personnel who lost their lives in a harrowing gunfight with terrorists in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, had a poignant final conversation with his family on that fateful Wednesday. At 6:45 am, his voice filled with determination, little did anyone know it would be their last exchange.
The Sacrifice of Three Brave Souls
The confrontation in Anantnag’s Garol area led to the grievous injuries of Colonel Singh, Major Ashish Dhonack, and Deputy Superintendent Himayun Bhat. Despite receiving medical attention, they succumbed to their wounds, leaving a void that can never be filled.
Families Mourn and Remember
As news of their passing spread, grieving family members shared their heartfelt memories and sorrow over the loss of these brave souls. Their stories serve as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by our security forces.
Operation Unfolds in the Dark
The tragic encounter occurred following a joint operation by the army and police, sparked by specific intelligence about terrorist activity. The heroes, led by Colonel Singh and Deputy Superintendent Bhat, faced a relentless barrage of gunfire, leading to their critical injuries.
The 41-year-old Colonel Singh, who commanded the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, was known for his unwavering dedication and was awarded the Sena Medal for his exceptional service. Major Dhonack, 34, leaves behind a grieving wife and a two-year-old daughter in Haryana’s Panipat. Deputy Superintendent Himayun Bhat, the son of retired Inspector General of J&K Police Ghulam Hassan Bhat, lost his life due to severe blood loss, leaving behind a two-month-old daughter.
The bodies of these brave individuals were retrieved from the Kokernag forest area of Anantnag. High-ranking officials, including Dilbagh Singh, Director General of J&K Police, and Lt. General Rajiv Ghai, Army’s 15 Corps commander, rushed to the encounter site to oversee the evacuation of their fallen comrades.
This tragic incident follows a similar one the day before, where Kent, a six-year-old female Labrador from the Army’s canine unit, lost her life, and three security personnel were injured in a gunfight in Rajouri. In that encounter, two terrorists were also neutralized.
As the nation mourns the loss of these courageous individuals, we are reminded of the sacrifices made by our security forces in the relentless battle against terrorism. Their memory lives on as a testament to their unwavering dedication and bravery.
