    DODA NOVEMBER 3: A workshop was organized by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory in the conference hall here, today, to observe Vigilance Week. The theme of the week is ‘Say no to corruption; Commit to the Nation’. This annual event, held from October 30 to November 5, 2023, is designed to raise awareness among government employees about the perils of corruption and the importance of integrity and ethics in public service.

    The Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh, chaired the workshop organised by the Anti Corruption Bureau Jammu and Kashmir. The DC, while interacting with the officers in the meeting, said that corroption is a serious mences spoiling the society. The key speakers of anti corruption bureau Jammu and Kashmir were the DSP and Inspectors from the ACB, J&K, who delivered lectures on the mences of corruption.

    The ACB officers told in the meeting that during the observance of vigilance awareness week from 30th of October to 5th of November, the debates, skirts and various cultural programme regarding mences of corruption are being organised across the UT to promote the awareness about the abuses of corruption The ACB officer addressed the menace of corruption during the workshop, emphasizing methods to control it, such as preventive vigilance, participative vigilance, and punitive vigilance.

    They also highlighted the role of anti-corruption agencies across the country in addressing misuse of power by government officials, as outlined in Section 2, of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The workshop discussed various forms of corruption, including undue embezzlement and fraud, and identified factors such as greed, monopoly, and lack of transparency as root causes.

    The workshop shed light on the consequences of corruption, which include arrest, loss of reputation, social sanctions, low self-esteem, and depression for those involved. The ACB officers stressed that ethical values within society play a crucial role in preventing corruption, alongside vigilance, adherence to rules, promotion of e-governance, and the imposition of appropriate punishments.
