WhatsApp Enables Parental Controls on Teen Accounts: Parents Gain More Privacy and Group Control Settings

WhatsApp Enables Parental Controls on Teen Accounts: Parents Gain More Privacy and Group Control Settings

TECHNOLOGY, October 3, 2026 [VoM News]: WhatsApp, which is part of Meta, has enabled parents to gain greater control over the privacy, groups, Status and Channels of teenage children without having any access to their messages or calls.

Through WhatsApp parental controls, parents will be able to control whether anyone would be allowed to see the profile picture of their teenager as well as the people that could add the teenager to any WhatsApp group.

Parents would also be able to get notified when their child joins or leaves any WhatsApp group and when there is a considerable rise in the number of members in a particular group.

In addition to this, there are parental controls for WhatsApp Status and Channels, enabling the parent to control what Status updates teenagers would be seeing and which one would be visible to everyone.

There would be an option for the teenagers to change protected settings after getting authenticated through a PIN set by parents.

It must be noted that WhatsApp parental control does not provide access to the content of private messages or calls.
