Direct talks between the Arab and Iranian leadership is essential: International Mediator Faisal Muhammed

London, October 23, 2026: In a conversation with The New Arab, international mediator Faisal Mohammed urged the leaders of the Middle Eastern (GCC) states to hold direct, high level “ceasefire negotiations” with the Iranian leadership in Beijing as soon as possible.

He emphasized that Arab nations must prevent the “leverage” over the Middle East conflict from falling into the hands of external powers.

He warned that the United States and Israel are poised to escalate the conflict in a highly destructive manner to serve their own interests a move that would cause direct, severe harm to both Iran and all Arab nations.

Furthermore, he suggested that inviting Russia to this summit as an observer would prove highly beneficial and effective in preventing the kind of catastrophe that could otherwise befall the Middle East a catastrophe that would also impact the United States and its allies.
