    DC Doda Leads Block Diwas Initiative to Address Public Issues and Aspirations

    In a proactive effort to engage with the public and address their concerns, Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, spearheaded a Block Diwas program in the remote Tehsil Marmat of District Doda. This initiative, a part of the UT administration’s outreach program, aimed to facilitate dialogue between the administration and the local community. The District Administration team, led by Deputy Commissioner Mahajan, listened attentively to the public’s issues, demands, and feedback during the event held at Government Higher Secondary School Goha (Marmat).

    On the way to Goha, Deputy Commissioner Mahajan led a cleanliness drive (Shramdaan) at Bargrann Market, with officers and local shopkeepers joining in to clean up plastic bottles and polythene littered along the roadside near the passenger shed.

    Weekly Block Diwas at Goha Marmat: Community Engagement and Problem-Solving

    The Block Diwas meeting in Goha was attended by a substantial gathering, including DDC Councillor Marmat Mushtaq Ahmed Batt, Sarpanches, Panches, and residents from neighboring panchayats of Block Marmat. Attendees brought forth a range of demands and issues, including the construction of Government Degree College Marmat, upgradation of local government schools, inclusion of eligible families under PMAY, tourism infrastructure development, construction of a Girls Hostel, establishment of a fire services unit in Goha, road improvements, provision of adequate staff in educational institutions, release of pending MGNREGA material payments, land compensation, PHC building construction at Goha, administrative jurisdiction matters, education zone creation, uninterrupted electricity supply, and ATM facilities.

    Immediate Action and Future Plans

    Deputy Commissioner Mahajan responded promptly to several of these demands on the spot, directing concerned officers to address them effectively. He emphasized the importance of a conducive ecosystem created by the administrative system and urged local youth to work diligently and innovatively for the area’s and the nation’s livelihood and development.

    In the coming month of October, the District Employment and Counselling Centre Doda will conduct counseling sessions in Higher Secondary schools and colleges in the area to address youth employment issues. Deputy Commissioner Mahajan encouraged locals to engage in scientific agricultural practices, seek assistance from relevant departments, and bring high-quality agricultural products to the market through cooperatives for increased income generation. He also urged the establishment of agro-based startups to bolster the local economy.

    Commitment to Addressing Public Concerns

    Deputy Commissioner Mahajan assured PRIs and the general public that all genuine issues would be resolved promptly. He instructed officers to work collaboratively to ensure equitable development across all Panchayats. Concerned officers were directed to prioritize addressing public demands and submit detailed reports on pending issues for higher authorities’ consideration. The Deputy Commissioner urged government employees to efficiently implement welfare schemes on the ground for the public’s benefit and encouraged officers to inform the public about income-generating and beneficiary-oriented schemes launched by the Government of India and the UT Government.
