Kyiv, October 5, 2026 [VoM News]: Ever asked yourself if there’s any hope for Ukraine and Russia? Well, the United States is raising the stakes by proposing to organize new trilateral talks by the end of October for peace that would put an end to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, AFP reported.
Picture this as the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, flanked by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Kyiv, reveals that Washington has been actively reaching out to both Kyiv and Moscow and is proposing technical-level negotiations in the trilateral format, and Zelensky is not holding back on the details.
“The American side is currently in contact with Ukraine and Russia and is proposing to hold some kind of meeting at the technical level in a trilateral format by the end of October,” he said.
In fact: Zelensky has already discussed the US peace proposal with their negotiating group and both Kyiv and Kyiv is ready to participate in the negotiations if they proceed along these lines within the date mentioned by Zelensky. The exact venue for the trilateral negotiations remains undecided, but Kyiv has already expressed its readiness to host the talks either in the United Arab Emirates or any other venue suggested by the United States. The United Arab Emirates has been involved in diplomatic endeavors related to this war before.
What about Moscow? Kyiv awaits Moscow’s response to the US peace plan, which Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in September may be discussed in another round of negotiations in October; however, he didn’t give any specific details.
This peace development is taking place as hostilities continue, with Russia intensifying drone and missile assaults on Ukrainian energy and military infrastructure, while Kyiv retaliates by striking military and energy infrastructure within Russia. What are your thoughts on these parallel peace talks and military strikes?
Even with all the chaos, Zelensky remains optimistic about Washington’s peace plan and says Ukraine is prepared to engage in negotiations. The critical questions are: Will the November 2026 deadline and the host country for the US-Russia-Ukraine peace talks be finalized soon? And will Moscow ever agree? We await their decisions.
