India Steps Up Ukraine Peace Efforts, Holds Talks With Kyiv and Moscow to Help End War: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar
NEW DELHI, October 5, 2026 [VoM News]: India has moved beyond advocating dialogue to taking a more active role in efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war by holding discussions with both Moscow and Kyiv on shipping, grain and energy issues, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said, PTI reported.
At a meeting of leaders held by Jaishankar during the Munich Conference on New Delhi, he stated that India always maintains peace through talks and negotiations; however, it is more active now than before.
“For many years now, we’ve been working on this issue; recently though, our involvement has increased somewhat.” Said Jaishankar.
India is concerned about security issues related to shipping through the Black Sea; therefore it has been discussing grain exportation, energy supply problems as well as measures for preventing attacks against specific targets.
These comments are coming days later than when Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybihas mentioned that Kyiv has been given an offer of peace by India and some others. The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, is also saying that prime minister Narendra Modi proposed some solutions to be agreed upon by both sides.
Also Jaishankar talked about India-Russia relations which include defense, nuclear power generation, space exploration, commerce and investments as well as energy sector collaboration between these two countries.
In terms of international politics, he stated that the shift towards America being more prominent while China is rising was changing world affairs so that newcomers as well as existing countries are looking for alternative sources of trade, defense alliances and logistics networks.
